“I got to chatting at a recent industry event about the current situation in Bali and how most of my staff were the sole financial support for their immediate and extended families, “
Said founder Shae Macnamara.
“I had planned to do a coffee day where anyone could come along, try our beans and donate to Bali, and La Marzocco offered their support to us, for which I am very grateful.
“As we all know, the hospitality and tourism industries have taken a huge hit since March 2020 and Bali alone is primarily reliant on tourism."
“We have kept operating our wholesale business and cafes in Indonesia and during this time we have provided our staff with food packages to share with their family and friends that have been financially affected.
“During my time here in Australia, I often get asked how one can offer support so we decided to extend the packages and offer them to the greater community.
“Each box is $25 and contains all the essentials for food and hygiene including rice, vegetables, eggs, masks, sanitiser and of course coffee!
“There are so many local initiatives, projects and businesses working hard to contribute in this time of crisis. It's amazing what we've seen so far.” Said Shae.
To keep in line with both companies' commitment to sustainability we encourage everyone to please bring their own reusable cup. Take away cups will be available. Coffee is by donation and for those who can not make it on the day and still want to contribute you can visit expatroasters.com.
The pandemic has badly hit the province's local economy, 80 percent of which relies on tourism.
According to Indonesian Tourist Industry Association (GIPI) data, the number of foreign tourist arrivals in Bali dropped 93.24 percent in April.
